The story takes place in Greenwich Village which is in New York City.

Mr. Pneumonia represents the disease which is suffered by Johnsy.

5. Who are the characters who play the roles in the excerpt of the story?

The characters who play the roles in the excerpt are Johnsy, Sue and Doctor.

6. What point of view does the writer write the story? Explain your answer?

The excerpt of the story is narrated in the “third person point of view”. The writer narrates the story using the third person nouns such as, Sue, Johnsy, Mr. Pneumonia and the doctor. Sue is described directly, we can hear her thoughts and we are told about her feelings. On the other hand, the writer describes the character of the doctor through the conversation and actions. Therefore, the story applies selective omniscience.

7. Explain the last paragraph of the story on your own words!

The doctor said that the weakness of the patients is when they don’t have any spirits in their life or something that makes them want to get well. The Doctor will do any science to make their patients recovery but when the patients plan their funeral means that they give up the doctor decrease 50% power of medicine. If sue can attract Johnsy to talk about new winter style the doctor can promise high possibility of the johnsy health to be cured.
