Invitation is used to ask someone to go to a place or to do something.

In inviting someone you have to explain:

1.      Kinds of invitation (Event)

2.      Time (day, date, hour)

3.      Place

4.      Dress code

5.      Gift to bring

Expressions of invitation:

Inviting	Responding
	Accepting	Declining
Would you like to………..? Would you like to come to....? Do you want to………? We would like to invite you to………….. We would like you to join us for………. would you like to join us for………. How about………….? Do you mind to come to………..? Please come to…………. I’ll be happy if you come to……… Let’s we go to………… Etc.	Of course ! Thank you, I will come. OK! I’d love to………. I’d like to…………. That sounds great. It sounds a nice idea. That would be terrific ! That would be amazing! That would be wonderful! Thanks for inviting me. It’s very kind of you to invite me. I’d be happy to…….. I like that. I’d be delighted to…….. Surely. That’s nice. Etc.	No, thank you. I’d love to, but…………. I’m sorry. I can’t. I’d like to, but I have many thing to do right now. I don’t think I can go. Sorry. I would love to, but……….. It’s good, but…………. Sorry. It’s good, but I can’t. Etc.

Dialogue: 

1)      Situation: Afika is going to celebrate her birthday. She will invite her friends to come.

Afika: Hi friends, I am going to have a birthday party tonight. Would you like to come?

Yossi: sure, I will come, what time?

Afika: at 7 pm at my house.

Yossi: ok! I will be there at 7.

  

2)      Situation: Tarra plans to watch a concert next week. He invites his friend Reza to go.

Tarra: would you like to see a concert next week?

Reza: I would love to, but next week I have to study for the test.

Tarra: Never mind.

3)      Situation: Raffa will invite his friends to come to Halloween party.

Raffa: there will be a Halloween party tomorrow. Do you want to go?

Izza: that’s a good idea. What time?

Raffa: at 10 pm. don’t be late! And don’t forget the dress code!

Izza: I know, I will make up like a zombie.

Raffa: that would be very exciting.

4)      Situation: there will be a football match on Sunday and Sandy wants to invite his friends to see the match.

Sandy:  our favorite football team is going to play this Sunday. I’ll be happy if all of you can watch the match together.

Roby: that sounds great.

Rony: sure, I like that.

Sandy: how about you Zaky? Would you like to join us?

Zaky: I would love to, but I have to visit my grandma. Anyway thanks for inviting.

Sandy: never mind.
