1.      Attitude and motivation have cause and effect relationship. Logically, it may be argued that it more likely that attitude is the cause than effect. What is the implication if this statement in teaching English Indonesia?

Answer:

Attitudes often believed to be the cause and motivation is the effect. The implication of this statement in teaching English in Indonesia is that in order for our students to have high motivation in learning English the English teacher should teach English in such a way that the students have positive attitude to English, English subject, and the speakers of the language.

2.      Why may students with high motivation more successful in learning a foreign language or be good language learners?

Answer:

Students with high motivation are more powerful than those with no motivations. Students with high motivation are very confident. Confidence is much needed in learning a foreign language. Because when the students are confident they will practice the target language easily, they won’t be afraid of making mistake in practicing the language. 

Having strong motivation, in communication they are willing to do many things to get her/his message across and they will use whatever knowledge and effort to make his/her message across.

3.      What do you know about integrative and instrumental attitude related to foreign language learning?

Answer:

Instrumental attitude is mostly refers to self-oriented and individualistic reason in learning English, for example: vocational reason, status, achievement, personal success and survival.

Instrumental attitude to a foreign language refers to a social and interpersonal orientation or may concern the integration to, or identification with a language group and its cultural activities of the people that use the foreign language.
